Description
L’railway shock absorber it is a fundamental component to ensure comfort, stability and safety in railway suspension systems. Way Assauto designs and produces shock absorbers for primary, secondary and anti-snaking suspensions, compliant with EN 15085 and ISO 3834 standards.
Railway suspension architecture:
– Primary: between axle/axle box and bogie frame (bogie); uses coil springs or rubber-metal elements with vertical/lateral dampers.
– Secondary: between cash register and trolley; often employs air springs and shock absorbers to control pitch and roll.
– Anti-snaking (Yaw Damper): connects body and undercarriage, limiting yaw motion, improving stability in straight travel and curve negotiation.
Technical characteristics of railway shock absorbers:
– Custom damping curves (compression/rebound) for comfort and stability at different speeds.
– Low friction seals for fine response even to small excitations.
– Rugged construction for resistance to fatigue, corrosion and contaminants.
– Possibility of integration with travel/temperature sensors and interface with semi-active systems where required.
